Farewell, Friday Harbor. Hello, Port Townsend

We decided to take a different route coming than we did getting there.  So, we took the ferry (yes, another one) from Keystone out of Coupeville on Whidbey Island to port Townsend on the Olympic Pennisula. The signs for this ferry all recommend making a reservation.  There is a reason for this.  This is one of the busiest ferries n Washington.  Make the reservation, you won't regret it.  We were lucky as it was a slower time of day for this ferry and we got on the next one after we arrived.  It's a short ferry trip of about 30 minutes, so we just sat back and relaxed.

As we pulled into Port Townsend, it was like traveling back to the 1800s.  I think the whole town is a national historic site.  Here are a couple pictures of the architecture.

Port Townsend is DEFINITELY a destination later this summer.

We drove down the eastern side of the Pennisula along Hood Canal.  We didn't get much site seeing done because the weather turned rainy and cold, so we just decided to drive on through and we'll site see on our way up to Port Townsend.  All in all our trip was very fun, relaxing and we had a wonderful time and got to go someplace that we have talked about going since before moving to Portland.  This trip has also made us realize that we have a lot to see in the pacific Northwest, and we going to see it, damn it!
