Whidbey Island

We took the ferry across from Mukilteo to Clinton at the southern end of the island.  We did this for several reasons, but the most important one was because it gave us the opportunity to drive the island only one way instead of going down and back up.  The other reasons are that it gave us the opportunity to off the interstate, get out of the vehicle and also to take a ferry (which we love).  I am going to just let the pictures speak for themselves.

These were blooming in Meerkerk Gardens.  Not sure what they are, but they sure were beautiful.

Poppies in Meerkerk Gardens.  What an unusual color.

This black tail doe came out the brush as we were walking along a garden path.

A few seconds later her fawn made a grand appearance.  We had a stand off to see which of us was going to get to use the path.  The fawn won.

The wharf in Coupeville.  It was supposed to be open at 8, but at 10 it was still locked up tight.  There is a nice cafe in here.

Just a few sailboats out on the bay on a dreary, but not rainy, day.

Driftwood on the beach in Fort Casey State Park.
