This is a Sci-Fi novel. It is actually 3 books in one: 'Empire', 'Confederation' and 'Final Battle.' The first book is totally awesome. The main character is Reza Gard and he is taken from the Confederation to the Empire. The Empire is a matriarchal society. It is this way because of a curse placed on the first Empress. Reza is taught the Way of the Empire and has to prove he has a soul.
But, now I'm on the second book and I am really having a tough go of it. It's all about military training and strategy. Yes, it takes place in the future with the spaceships and uber high tech gadgetry, but I get more into the fantasy side of sci-fi and that's what is making this book difficult for me. David has already read the whole series (6 books in total) and says I can skip this one. But, I'm already pretty far into it, so I'll just continue trudging through it.
I will post about this book again once I have finished all three.
