Cape Fuchsias

When we had our house we planted Cape Fuchsias on either side of the steps leading to our front door. Little did we know hoe invasive they were. They are like blackberries in that they send out tendrils from their roots.  If not contained, they can take over quite rapidly.  At the house we are in now we have this strip between the driveway and the fence that is basically wasted.  The soil is crap and there was some sort of shrubbery planted there at one time and the roots are still there.  David calls this 'The Hell Strip.' It is bordered by the driveway and our neighbor's 'yard' which is all concrete.  It's the perfect 'contained planting area.  So, we are planting yellow and red Cape Fuchsias here.  They have trumpet type blooms, they bloom all summer and the hummingbirds just love them because they literally ooze nectar.  In a couple of years this area should be completely filled with these beautiful hummingbird feeders.
