Night On the Town

We got an invite from one of our friends to join them at Harvey's Comedy Club.  Now, when I hear the word 'comedy' I cringe.  It's not that I don't have a sense of humor, it's just that what a lot of people find to be funny I find to be mundane and sort of idiotic.  I don't get the popularity of Adam Sandler.  I think he's just an idiot.  But, Jim Cary??  Now he's hilarious.  So, we took her up on the offer and went.  It had been a long time since David and I had been downtown for a night out and we don't get to go out with friends very often.  We had a fabulous time!!!  There were three acts.  They were all male which was kind of disappointing because I like there to be a little more variety.  But, that's OK.  We go to comedy with the comedians we have and not the comedians we want.  The first guy was kind of annoying.  It was like he was constantly apologizing for his humor which really took away from the 'comedy' effect.  The second guy was better, but he was way to wrapped up in his age, looks, penis and sex life.  But the third (headliner) was a scream.  I haven't laughed that hard for a long time.  I would go to see him again.  Also, he was kind of hot.  After the show we decided to go somewhere for a bite to eat.  Hamburger Mary's was the unanimous choice.  I was a little leery.  We went there when we first moved to Portland because we were told it was THE place for a great burger.  We were so disappointed.  The service sucked and the food was nasty.  But, they are in a new place and it had been 13 years, so 'give it another go' I thought to myself.  Glad we went.  The food was awesome, the service was fantastic and it was a great way to finish up the evening.  We would have stayed longer, but David slacked on his homework yesterday and, so, he has to make up for that today.  Some peoples' kids, I tell ya!!!
