People Watching

We had people over last night for a grillin' party.  I can't really call them just friends because they are way more than that.  These are people that we have known for between 10 and 15 years and have been a constant in our lives.  They are very important to us and we consider them our Oregon family since neither of us has any biological family that live in the area.

Our Oregon Family

I love to watch people and when we have a party it really is more interesting because none of the people in the above photo are anything alike.  So, as I'm observing our peeps, and they are chatting away, one of them asks if the grill was lit.  The answer was no.  Then they all started in about the grill not being lit.  So, David goes down to light the grill.  Behind him are all the people at the party heading towards the grill as if some wondrous miracle were about to happen. Lo and behold, a miracle did happen!!  The grill got lit. The funny thing about it isn't the mantra, or the masses seeking the miracle of fire.  The thing that cracked me up was that, once the grill was lit, everyone went back to their conversations.  No mention of whether the food was ready to be put on the grill or how long they would have to wait to eat.  It was like the grill being lit was the only thing that mattered and once that was done life could go on.
